Treatments at The Derma Practice

Doctor-led treatments, individually planned

Every treatment at The Derma Practice begins with an assessment of your concerns, medical history, suitability and expectations

Treatment recommendations are personalised to you, with an emphasis on subtle results, appropriate treatment and informed decision-making

Facial lines assessment of the forehead and eye area

Facial Lines Consultation

A one-to-one medical consultation for concerns including forehead lines, frown lines and lines around the eyes

Your facial movement, anatomy, medical history and treatment goals will be assessed before the available options are discussed

Depending on your individual circumstances, this may include skincare, non-prescription treatments or other clinically appropriate options

Where a prescription-only medicine may be relevant, this can only be considered following an individual medical assessment and appropriate prescribing process

Suitable for concerns such as:

  • forehead lines
  • frown lines
  • crow’s-feet
  • changes in facial lines with movement or ageing

What to expect:

Your consultation will include assessment of facial movement and anatomy, discussion of your goals and a balanced explanation of appropriate options, limitations and potential risks

Side-profile facial assessment

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to restore or enhance volume and support facial balance and proportion

At The Derma Practice, treatment is planned around your individual facial anatomy rather than following a standardised approach

Depending on your assessment and goals, treatment may be considered for areas such as:

  • lips
  • cheeks
  • chin
  • jawline
  • selected facial folds or areas of volume loss

Our approach

The aim is not to change your appearance dramatically

Treatment planning focuses on proportion, balance and subtle enhancement, while preserving the features that make you look like yourself

What to expect

Before treatment, your medical history, facial anatomy, expectations and suitability will be assessed

The proposed treatment, expected outcome, limitations, potential risks and aftercare will be discussed before you decide whether to proceed

Temporary swelling, tenderness and bruising can occur following injectable treatment. Less common but potentially serious complications will also be discussed during consent

The amount of product required and how long the effect lasts varies according to the treatment area, product used and individual

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are injectable treatments used in aesthetic medicine with a focus on skin quality and regenerative skin treatment

Rather than creating facial volume in the way that dermal fillers can, they are generally selected where the treatment goal is focused on the quality and appearance of the skin

Areas commonly considered

Depending on the product used and individual assessment, treatment may be considered for:

  • under-eye area
  • face
  • neck
  • other areas where skin quality is the main concern

Who might consider polynucleotides?

They may be discussed with patients concerned about aspects of skin quality such as:

  • fine lines
  • crepey-looking skin
  • changes in skin texture
  • the appearance of tired or ageing skin

What to expect

Treatment usually involves a series of small injections into the selected area

Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, small bumps and bruising can occur afterwards

The recommended treatment course will depend on the product being used, treatment area and your individual treatment plan

PRP tubes with separated golden plasma

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP treatment uses a small sample of your own blood

The blood is processed to separate a platelet-rich component, which is then used as part of the treatment

At The Derma Practice, PRP may be considered for:

Skin

As part of a treatment plan focused on facial skin quality and rejuvenation

Hair

As an option for selected patients concerned about hair thinning or hair quality

What happens during PRP treatment?

A small amount of blood is taken and processed using a centrifuge

The prepared platelet-rich component is then administered to the treatment area according to your individual treatment plan

What to expect

Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling or bruising can occur following treatment

PRP uses material derived from your own blood, but this does not mean that treatment is risk-free or that results are guaranteed

Suitability, expectations and the likely treatment course will be discussed during consultation

Dr Khan performing a hydrodermabrasion facial

Advanced Skin Treatments

Personalised skin treatments designed around your individual skin concerns and goals

Our advanced skin treatments include hydrodermabrasion, skin boosters and tailored facial treatments

Hydrodermabrasion

A non-invasive facial treatment combining cleansing, exfoliation and fluid-assisted treatment of the skin

Treatment can be tailored according to your skin type and concerns, with an emphasis on leaving the skin feeling cleansed, hydrated and refreshed

May be considered for

  • dull-looking skin
  • congestion
  • uneven-feeling skin texture
  • general skin maintenance
  • patients seeking a non-injectable facial treatment

What to expect

Treatment is generally comfortable and requires little or no downtime for most people

Your skin will be assessed beforehand so that the treatment and products used can be adapted appropriately

Skin Boosters

Skin boosters are injectable treatments primarily used where the treatment goal is focused on hydration and overall skin quality rather than facial contouring

Different products have different formulations and characteristics, so the treatment recommended will depend on your skin, concerns and the product being considered

Areas that may be treated

Depending on the product and assessment:

  • face
  • neck
  • décolletage
  • hands

What to expect

Treatment involves multiple small injections into the selected area

Temporary swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising can occur

The number of sessions and expected duration of effect varies according to the product, treatment area and individual response

Not sure which treatment is right for you?

You do not need to know which treatment you want before booking

During your consultation, Dr Khan will discuss your concerns, assess your skin or facial anatomy and explain the options that may be appropriate for you

If treatment is not suitable or unlikely to meet your expectations, this will also be discussed openly

Treatment safety

Your safety comes first

All injectable treatments require an appropriate consultation and assessment before treatment

Your medical history, medications, allergies, previous procedures and relevant risk factors will be reviewed

There is no obligation to proceed with treatment following a consultation

Before proceeding, you will have an opportunity to discuss:

  • what the treatment involves
  • realistic expected outcomes
  • alternative options
  • common side effects
  • important or serious complications
  • aftercare
  • when and how to seek help following treatment
